Dear Friends, on Friday March 6th, 2020 Lafaek Learning Media (LLM) was invited to accompany H.E. New Zealand Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Mr. Phillip Hewitt and the New Zealand Embassy team to take part in the Celebration of International Women’s Day in Gleno, Ermera organized by the Secretary State for Equality and Inclusion (SEII).
The theme for this year’s celebration is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”.
The event was opened by: H.E. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Dionísio da Costa Babo Soares, accompanied by H.E. Secretary of State for Equality and Inclusion, Mrs. Maria José da Fonseca Monteiro de Jesus, H.E. Vice President of Timor-Leste Nacional Parliament, . Maria Angelina Sarmento, and UN Women Deputy Country Representative, Ms. Sunita Caminha.
The Celebration of International Women’s Day in Gleno was also attended by: The Philippines Ambassador to Timor-Leste, H.E. Abdulmaid K. Muin, Portugal Ambassador to Timor-Leste, H.E. José Pedro Machado Vieira, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Timor-Leste, H.E. Andrew Jacobs, Australian Diplomatic Corps, Municipal Authority President, Head of PNTL of Ermera Municipal, local and national women’s organizations, representative of Catholic church, local government, CAFÉ Primary School Gleno and Community of Gleno.
The Lafaek Learning Media (LLM) Project is implemented by CARE International in Timor-Leste with the support from the New Zealand Aid Programme, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), through close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MEYS), Timor-Leste.
